Wedding is for one day, marriage is for life.

I love Aaron to bits, but let’s be honest, he is SO not the guy whom I would’ve wanted in my group in the days when we had to do group-projects.

You know the guys I mean. The ones whom you have to nag forever to get the tiniest thing done before you throw your hands up in the air in exasperation & just do it yourself.

My sister asked me in the car earlier: “If I told you, when you were 23, that you would be married in 5 years, would you believe me?”

I think I would have found it even more unbelievable that I would choose to embark on the biggest project of all-time with a guy whom I wouldn’t have wanted to work with on a school project.

(Never mind the fact that we didn’t know each other then, or the fact I went to school in Miri while he went to school in Subang Jaya, or that while I was in secondary school, he was still in primary school…)

BUT, Anne is convinced it would be a bad idea to marry someone like you, anyway.

(Imagine me & my doppelgänger meeting and marrying AND SPAWNING CHILDREN with kuasa Sheena kuasa dua. I fear for the world.)

I remember recently, after all my pent-up frustration had peaked, asking

- nay, DEMANDING -

of Aaron WHY WAS IT he wouldn’t buckle down to sorting out wedding prep. with me.

And he told me, he didn’t want us to just be doing stuff in the weeks leading up to our marriage – he wanted us to be with each other, as in, truly present to each other.

Was uncomfortably reminded in that moment how Martha & Mary we were: I was wrapped-up & stressed with all the tasks on my to-do (Paperless) list, and like Martha, had also been driven to ask, “DO YOU NOT CARE that you have left me to do all this work BY MYSELF??

Y U NO HEPTCH ME??”

Only to be told by Aaron there was only need of one thing, the better thing.

Having said that, I did grumble to YK & Sheena that the reason Mary could sit around at the feet of Jesus was because MARTHA HAD DONE ALL THE WORK ALREADY. Hmph.

That moment also made me realise anew how blessed I am to be marrying this man - ‘cos let’s face it, efficient men are around - but a man who knows what truly should not be taken away

– And reminds me of it, even in the face of my wrath –

That one, not so easy to find.

So, in this fashion, Aaron & I complement each other.

We COMPLEMENT each other. We COMPLEMENT each other. We COMPLEMENT each other.

Thank God HE was the one who decided Aaron & I should be in the same group.

I was laughing at this post. I so know how you feel about not wanting him in your group-project. But it works out in the end of the day as He planned it.
